Watery Wednesday N:o 27 - Lintuhavaintoja ... Bird sightings

To splash about in the world's waters or to participate in the meme just click on the below button:

Menin tänään Helsingin Vanhan Kaupungin koskelle kuvaamaan. Siellä olikin jo muutamia vesilintumaailman tulokkaita.

Today I went to take pictures of the rapids where the river Vantaa runs out to the sea, which is situated in the Helsinki Old Town. A few newcomers had already arrived.

Telkkä uros ... A male Goldeneye

Hups! Sinne se sukelsi .... Oops! There he dived

Oli hänellä tyttöystäväkin mukana ... He had a girlfriend with him too

Oikeastaan kaksikin ja kun pitää kahta naarasta vikitellä niin siinä saakin niskojaan venytellä oikein kunnolla ... Two in fact and when you have to impress two females that means a lot of neck stretching

Näin myös tämän Isokoskelo uroksen ... I also saw this male Goosander

Tässä on Isokoskelo naaras ... This is a female Goosander

Urheilullinen tyttö, joka harrasti koskenlaskua ... A sporty girl, who enjoyed a rough water ride

Ei tahtonut herra Koskelo jäädä toiseksi ... Mr Goosander did not want to be left second

Nyt paikalle saapui kilpakosija ... Now a rival made his entry

Olihan siellä toki tuttuja sinisorsiakin ... Of course there were also familiar Mallards there

Nämä kaksi viihtyivätkin putouksen reunalla ... These two liked to reside at the edge of the water fall

Ylempänä vielä jäässä olevaa joenuomaa pitkin tallusteli tämä uros fasaani ... Further up stream, still frozen, this male Pheasant was strutting about

Minut huomattuaan sille tuli vähän kiire ... Having noticed me he got in a bit of a hurry

I'd agree. The bridge with the falls below is a favorite. Or perhaps the pheasant. Tough to pick just one!

Hahah...I love the photos, as well as the story that goes with it. Impressive photos again Tarolino. I wouldn't even be able which is which of them.

These were wonderful! Such beautiful ducks and such a nice variety of them. I really like that shot of the two ducks on top of the falls. Too cute!

Great shots! I especially like the one of the ducks at the top of the falls. I enjoyed the pheasants too because we don't see much of them anymore around here.

Wonderful captures. I've never seen a Goldeneye or a Goosander. It's good to learn. You certainly are a great photographer.

Hauska tarina kavelystasi. Siella nakyi tosiaan aika paljon erilaisia lintuja, eika pelkastaan vanhanaikainen Herra Sinisorsa. Fasaani on hieno valkoist alunta vastaan.

Siellähän riitti jos jonkun näköistä siivekästä. Fasaanit on aina hauskoja ja noi jutut teki niistä vielä hassumpia.

Hauskanhienot kuvasarjat olet taasen koonnut tänne sivuillesi. Minun käy joskus kateeksi (ei oikeasti) kun meillä ei ole vielä yhtään avovettä, eikä niin monipuolisia maisemia. No katsotaan kun annetaan kevään vielä varttua :)

i think the go;deneye is just so handsome!! and the shot where he dives is so funny, i had to laugh! funny when he is working so hard to impress the ladies, and neither of them are looking at him!
i really think the female goosander is the prettier of the pair!! but i guess she would blend in with the grasses better, and hide her on the nest.
and to be that close to a pheasant!!!

What a wonderful series of photos today ... I loved the antics of the first few birds and appreciated your commentary for each. I love learning the names of various unfamiliar water fowl! Thanks so much for sharing.
Hugs and blessings,

Gorgeous shot, all of them. The pheasant in movement in the last shot is superb. And my stomach lurched when I scrolled down and found myself going over the edge of the waterfall!
