My World Tuesday - Along the river Mankki

To join in the fun just click on the above batch

The Espoo manor house (a nice house but not very grand as manors go)

Photobucket
The old stables of the manor. No horses there today.

This too is among the buildings belonging to the manor. Not sure what it has been used for.

Photobucket
A very narrow bit under one of the bridges

Photobucket
Further up stream the frozen river passes the old stone church of Espoo

Photobucket
On the other side there is an area of modern red brick buildings (a school)

Photobucket
Another view of the stone church

Photobucket
Separate bell towers is a common feature with these kind of traditional churches

Photobucket
Traditional style red house with white corners near the bank of the river

Here we have that tiny cottage in front from another side

For the last two posts I have remained fairly close to home within the boundries of my home town Espoo (just west of the capital Helsinki). Next time I will move on a bit further to the west and the surroundings of another river there.

The passage under the bridge is one favorite and the bridge photo too...But I love all of them though. Great captures.

Hi.

All the photos are very good and they show this part of Espoo very realistic. My favorite photo is "A very narrow bit under one of the bridges". There is something in that photo.

Also I love photo from old stable. Well, I saw the church of Espoo stone church (very good photos) and I have to present this church also. It is very nice, historic church.

When seeing winter as You show it, winter is beautiful, as it is.

Regards.

I love the one of the underside of the bridge.

A very, very beautiful post! A splendid old manor house, stables and outbuildings and surroundings.
I would love to live in such a place. The bridge is beautiful too.
I am not so enamored of the modern buildings which which although functional, do not sit well with traditional architecture.

Hejsan!
Beautiful manor. What it doesn't have in size, it adds up with charm!

Wow, what a lovely town. I love the arched bridge over the river and the stone church. Very picturesque. However, I can do without the snow! Brrrr.

Thanks for your visit to my blog. The last photo was taken from a book that I bought in Greece. Yes animals are treated badly in many countries. When I was in Egypt last year November,I saw how small horses had to pull carts with 5 heavy adults . The driver beat the little animal to let him run faster. I shouted at him. He just laughed but didn't do it again for as long as we were in his cart.

Great buildings. These are great winter shots. I'll be that though the manor doesn't look like much on the outside, it's probably fabulous on the inside. Love those windows!
