Kaikenlaista ... All sorts

Kevääseen kuuluu pienet kasvinalut, jotka työntyvät mullasta ylös.
The spring brings new small plants pushing up from the soil.

Kevääseen kuuluu sininen taivas ja pitkät valoisat illat.

Springflowers have to put up with all sorts.

Different sounds attract the attention of an alert dog.

Kevät tuo mukanaan kalamiesten jättämät, ah niin herkulliset, kalanperkuutkin.
Spring brings with it the, oh so delicious, fish heads and guts left by the fishing people.

Hyvää viikonloppua ... Happy weekend

Isot halit sinulle Zilga.

Käykää Zilgan blogissa. Se on hieno.

I am again heading to the cottage for a couple of days. At the same time I want to thank Zilga for the wonderful award that she has given me as e token of friendship (as seen above). That in particular warms my heart very much. I shall keep it for a while until I have decided who I will forward it to. A big hug to you Zilga.

Visit Zilga's blog. It is wonderful.

Metsäretkellä ... Walking in the woods

Olen poissa kotoota tiistaihin asti mutta yritän vastailla palattuani.

I'm away from home until Tuesday but will try to respond at my arrival.

Tämän vappunaamarin kera toivottelen Hauskaa Vappua!
With this First-of-May masque I'll bid you all Happy First of May!

Today's Flowers No 38 - Some new ones

This Sunday meme is hosted by Luis Santilli Jr, Denise Gullickson, Laerte Pupo, Denise B. Castro
To participate and/or view wonderful blooms click on the above icon.

I find wild growing mosses and other things in the forest as beautiful as those glorious products of man's creativity. The Heather in fact is carrying last year's flowers as they do flower in the autumn with pink flowers but still, the dead ones are pretty too.

I just love to follow the developments on those spring trees and shrubs this time of year even if everything in this collage is not just flowers.

These are all new arrivals for the week in nature except for the woodeanenemies. I had to incorporate them as I've seldom seen ones that pure blue and that thickly growing.

The gardener's joys. New ones are the Daffodil buds (I saw some that were partly open but liked this picture more), the Striped Squill (also called Puschkinia) and the Hyacinth

I shall not be home until Tuesday but will try to respond to you then at the latest. In the meanwhile thankyou for your interest.

Country walks part II

I feel like lingering on in my little personal paradise island for a bit still. The summer cottage is on an island but reachable by car all year round as the island of Noto is separated from the mainland only by a narrow channel and there's a bridge going over it. Okay there's a lot of cottages there so it's by no means my personal space apart from the plot the cottage is on, which goes all the way down to the water's edge.

This time I want to present mainly some of the tree life on that island.

Silver branches

Huggingly weird tree trunk

A giant burl on a birch tree

Interesting root. Like a woman's buttocks.

Roots of a fallen tree

Mossy roots creeping over the forest floor

Roots in a brook. Or perhaps dinosaur feet?

The leaf buds of a wild rose

Coltsfoot in the grass. Flowers within the flower.

Cattail that has dispersed nearly all of its millions of seeds

A cute tree dweller that has lost a big part of its grey winter coat. Soon it'll be all red.

A little imsy wimsy spider running on a stick

This is my older brother, who also came to the cottage for easter as his wife was in Japan on business. We don't live close and he's a very busy working architect so it was really nice to see him. We're so proud of him.

Täynnä emikukintoja (Tervaleppä?) ... Full of catcins (Common Alder?)
