Sky Watch Friday N:o 28

Time flies and here the world is again presenting the skies over the past week.

In southern Finland we finally got the winter but before that we had one rather lovely sunset. Or it was actually at its best about 20 minutes after the sun dissapeared. This was before the snow but the water was frozen, ie it was clear and quite cold.

Then it clouded over and got a bit warmer but stayed dry and here we are at one of Finland's round about 80 000 lakes, which also is frozen over.



After that it has been cloudy and quite mild but the clouds did eventually bring a welcome ingredient as I am strangely enough fond of snow.


This was round about at five pm today and the sky had a weird violet shade and it was slowly snowing.




These last two images I took after my evening walk with the dogs at about 10 pm tonight using a stand. The snowing had increased and it was quite heavy now. But no wind was blowing so it was pleasant enough at only -1 centigrades.

Sky Watch Friday N:o 27

Another week gone and not in the finest of wheathers - unfortunately. Still to appreaciate a beautiful sky there must be some dull ones in between. The most colour in our sky for the past few days have been during early morning just before sun rise, when even the totally overcast sky has taken on a slightly purple complexion.



During the light hours one must focuse on something different than the actual sky to incorporate any interest at all in a picture.

It can be something in the foreground...



... or something in the middle ...



... or even spanning all the way to the background



Late in the day there have been the odd moments of some kind of colour breaking through...



... and one rare moment with a glimpse of the sun just before she went to sleep behind the horizon...



and left behind her a black night time sky.

Olin tänään erään palvelutalon asukin saattajana Jorvin sairaalassa. Hän oli kaihileikkauksessa. Kirpeältä tuntui nousta kukonlaulun aikaan mutta ei auttanut kun töissä piti olla jo klo 6.45. Itse leikkaus vei jotakuinkin 1,5 tuntia kaikkinensa mutta sinne pääsyä kun odoteltiin niin kului ensin vajaa tunti. Eipä ollut paljoa tekemistä siinä odotellessani mutta olin aamulla napannut kameran mukaani kuitenkin. Pulmana olikin se, että oli vielä ihan pimeätä joskin jonkunlainen rusko odotuksen loppupuolella alkoi taivaanrannalla kajastaa. Jos sitä nyt voi ruskoksi sanoa kun niin tasaisen harmaa päivä tästäkin tuli. Siispä maisemakuvausta ei kannattanut edes yrittää mutta joitakin otoksia napsin kuitenkin ihan muista aiheista ulkona talloessani aikani kuluksi.

Täysin pilvistä ja sairaalloisen ruskeanharmaa taivas. Pilvimassa peittää taivaan kokonaan ja aikaansaa ympäröivien kaupungin valojen johdosta kummallisen sävyn taivaalle.

Overcast and a sickly browny grey sky. The cloud mass covering the sky reflects the lights from the surrounding city making the colour appear very strange.
